Mix and Mobilize: WE ACT Beauty Justice Happy Hour

About the Event

Join us for a happy hour where EJ allies can connect, enjoy an open bar, and support the beauty justice work in New York State. WE ACT's Beauty Inside Out campaign focuses on improving the health and well-being of communities of color who are most impacted by the harmful effects of toxic ingredients in cosmetics and personal care products. Women and girls of color are placed at risk due to targeted marketing that perpetuates a racially biased standard of beauty. Our beauty justice campaign aims to reduce toxic exposure to chemicals in products through research, education, and advocacy. At our Beauty Justice Happy Hour, you’ll have the chance to support a milestone Beauty Justice law in New York, and learn more about toxic products and safer and healthier alternatives: Support and advocate for the New York State Beauty Justice Act (A2054A/S2057A) which would ban many dangerous ingredients (formaldehyde, PFAS, lead, mercury, parabens, phthalates, etc.) currently found in our everyday face, skin, and hair products. Explore how beauty justice connects to colorism, racism in the beauty industry, and environmental justice. Discover how harmful chemicals in everyday products affect your health and learn about ways to shop safer as well as what products to avoid. RSVP is required.
